43 Crestwood Drive, West Orange, NJ

Join NOFA NJ and Michael Brown for a tour of Pitspone Farm in West Orange, NJ.

This tour will focus on growing perennial berries on a small acreage. Michael will discuss growing considerations, propagation, markets and pricing for aronia, gooseberry, red currant, jostaberry, elderberry and goji, among others. He will also touch on some native edibles including American plum, beach plum, and serviceberry. We will discuss some of the advantages and disadvantages of growing in a suburban setting.

Michael Brown has been gardening and farming for over 20 years. For the last 10 years Michael's suburban farm has focused on commercial production of several less-common perennial berries. Two years ago Michael relocated Pitspone Farm to West Orange, Essex county from his previous suburban farm location in Middlesex County.
